Another successful tour in the books! For the first part of the trip in Salzburg, we immersed ourselves in Alpine history, including visiting a salt mine that goes back to pre-Roman Empire days when Celtic peoples began mining salt and building the original city of Salzburg on the Salzach River. The trip was full of customized tours that took us through a history that began in Neolithic times, through Celtic Salzburg to the Roman city of Iuvavum and on through Medieval times to the present day. We walked through the streets that each of these cultures trod, visiting the grounds of Nonnberg Abbey, the oldest convent in Europe, founded by Saint Rupert in 712. We saw Hohensalzburg, the hill fortress that protected the city, visited the places Mozart was born, was baptized and grew up, took a Sound of Music tour, and learned how to make apple strudel.

  In Munich, we explored both the vibrant culture of Bavaria and also its dark past.  We enjoyed time at the famous Marienplatz and English gardens, took guided tours to churches and palaces, and even got to spend a day pretending to be a princess at Neuschwanstein Castle. We immersed ourselves in WWII history, exploring the places where the Nazi Party was born and rose to prominence, and took a trip to Dachau reeducation camp where many paid with their lives for speaking out against them. We were able to relax in the beautiful beer gardens and ate plenty of wienerschnitzel, pretzels and brats all while enjoying the Bavarian culture.  

Some of the group adventured to Iceland before the trip started, and another group explored Ireland! These trips are ready to be tailored to you.
